  i get tired of using the argument of "the mystery of evil" to attack god but where are we when we see heroic acts of godly courage from great humans like dr. kent bradly and dr. nancy writebols wonderful works of love?

  did you listen to dr. kent bradley's concern and loving compassion for west africa?

  he's not angry superstitious mobs destroyed several make-shift medical facilities to treat victims of ebola, no, dr. bradly implored the world to "help save west africa".

  Bad actions by bad people don't prove God exist or does not exist.

  No, but it does prove god isn't intervening, and since answering prayers is intervention, god clearly isn't answering any prayers whatsoever, period!

  Therefore, a totally non-intervening God is irrelevant. Such a being may as well not exist at all. So stop wasting your time praying to this aloof, non-intervening, hidden god or defending it or vainly trying to prove if it event exists or not. Clearly, this god is not listening.

  The answers lie within, in our own conscience and mind and hearts. We've got to help ourselves and stop suffering and evil as best as we can.

  This is basically the buddhist and humanist position.

  the usual feeling for me - when i missed mid-week meetings - is to feel guilty, sad or depressed.

  it normally involved negative feelings.

  99% of the rest of the community think JW's are mostly just a bunch of religious weirdos and that it would be super weird to ever go to one of their meetings. So why the hell would you ever feel guilty about missing their meetings?

  Religion is a bunch of man made tradition handed down through time that originally derived from ancient scary stories made up by old priests to frighten the people into doing what they ought to have done anyway.

  You don't need belief in anything at all remotely connected with religion or theism or atheism to be 'spiritual', moral and ethical.

  Throw all the labels away.

  You just need to be human. For the most part, we all know what's right from wrong (it's called following your 'conscience') and we know what's needed to live together peacefully and beneficially.

  Leviticus 17:11 - for the life of the creature is in the blood.

  The blood represents the soul, the life that is lost. No soul or life is given up in blood transfusions.

  In every single scripture in the Bible regarding the blood prohibition there are always two factors:

  1. It's ingested orally
  2. A soul was lost, a life given up, for the blood

  Blood transfusions satisfy neither of these two important scriptural contextual requirements for the prohibition to apply.

  How blind and wicked of the JW leadership to perpetuate this criminal doctrine.
